The Journey Between Worlds
My journey as an artist is inseparable from my journey as a woman and a mother reclaiming her sovereignty.
Born in Germany in 1973 to Greek parents, a sudden and disorienting relocation back to Greece in 1994 brought a massive cultural shock. To anchor myself, I turned to the Applied School of Arts in Volos, completing my studies in 2005. For years, my hands shaped the tactile world of ceramics.
Yet, painting has remained my silent, enduring sanctuary. Even as I dedicated years fully to raising my child, my brush kept me anchored to my own inner voice.
Across my website, you will find distinct series featuring works from 2020 onward—pieces I am sharing publicly for the first time, including my 2023 collections. Kept close for years, these canvases capture a vital turning point: the moment I needed all those years to truly understand my own energy, break free from old patterns, and awaken to my own power.
Today, I am taking the leap. Financially, I am still building my footing, but I am doing it with absolute belief and courage. Launching this website and committing fully to my art is my declaration of independence.
Standing firmly in her creative truth, Marisa Iona creates with unshakeable belief—proving that the courage to build a life on your own terms is its own profound awareness.
From the Slopes of Mount Pelion
Today, Marisa Iona works from her studio in the heart of Mount Pelion, Greece. This legendary landscape, where the ancient mountains meet the sea, provides the light and clarity that breathe life into her canvases and clay.
A Private Invitation I believe that art is a bridge, and I prefer a personal connection with those who collect my work. I warmly invite you to visit my studio in person by appointment. This is an opportunity to share a coffee, discuss the stories behind the paintings, and experience the surroundings of Pelion together.
For those visiting Greece, I encourage personal collection of your artwork to ensure its safe journey and to create a lasting memory of its origin.
